I hope you had a happy Thanksgiving.

Tonight’s SEM Weekly has the final contributions of the first trimester journalism students. It’s been fun to teach and learn with them. I hope that all 13 will continue to write for SEM Weekly and far into the future. Thank you, Aerin Wagner, Jenna Al-Naji, Sara Caywood, Leah Kramer, Mikang Kim, Jesse Sloier, Becca Thomas, Elisa Yi, LucyMarie Gaulin, Anya Roy, Brooke Gannon, Kyra Fogg and Chris Wu.

Grandparent Morning was our best attended ever! A video and pictures are forthcoming. In the meantime, take a look at SEM Instagram a post of some of our bouncing #greatlisten facilitators has almost 400 likes. That’s the most likes a SEM post has ever had!

We’re in the homestretch toward winter break now and this will be a busy week…

First, on November 29, it’s #GivingTuesday and SEM takes part in this national day of giving.

Then, on Wednesday, November 30, Trimester 2 begins. That day, at Morning Meeting four seniors: Morgan Baker, Madelynn Leary, Catherine McClenahan, Tara Porter, Jesse Sloier, and Xinyang Ye will be inducted into the SEM chapter of the national Cum Laude Society. Kathryn Steffan ’08 is the special speaker and all senior parents are invited to the ceremony. At 4 PM the foreign language department will host a Mexico trip information session in the Colby Room.

Does anyone have an Android to spare? Tech Entrepreneurship class starts on November 30 and the students will learn to make an Android App.  If there are used Androids out there please drop off at the front office, attention Ms. Adamczyk. The phones should not be connected to cell service, just able to turn on.

December 2, it’s the annual Hanging of the Greens and at 5 PM the Semachords perform at the Seneca Niagara Resort and Casino tree lighting ceremony.

Don’t forget to order your wreaths and poinsettias before noon on December 6 for pick-up at the SEM Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, December 10, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. The junior class is selling poinsettias and the senior class is selling holiday wreaths. Reserve yours here before noon on December 6. Pick them up and pay for them at the Bazaar. Over fifty vendors will be located throughout our historic school building, selling a variety of home-made and hand-crafted items. This year’s assortment includes specialty food, candles, jewelry, lotions, photography, glassware, SEM apparel, exotic imports, and ornaments. It’s a perfect opportunity to support local businesses, nosh on tasty treats, and cross off your holiday shopping list. We hope to see you there!

Parents you can register here for the 2016-17 winter session of Vinyassa yoga at SEM– suitable for beginner and intermediate levels. Dec. 1 – Mar. 2 (20 classes). Mondays and Thursdays 4 – 5:00 PM.
