This week:

Abby Collins explains the origins of Valentine’s Day and what the senior class at SEM does to observe it; Isabelle Schlehr reports on a fencing tournament in Syracuse; Tessa Pszonak gives us a glimpse of Our Town as it swings into rehearsals for the March 6 opening; Brook Sillart shares ideas for what to do in wintery Buffalo; Lauren Pollina gets us ready for the International Dinner on March 9; and Emma Brentjens gathers insights from three faculty members who recently attended The Association of Boarding Schools conference and Betsy Bloom ’08,  the assistant squash coach and former SEM squash player covers our exciting third in a row win at US Squash National Championships on Saturday night.

This Valentine’s Day, will you make a gift in honor of your daughter? Every gift impacts every school day and makes the unique SEM educational experience. Thank you.

The SEM Parent Association (PA) annual Mother’s Day plant sale is underway!

A variety of annuals, herbs, tomatoes and gorgeous hanging baskets are available.

Summer at SEM Registration is Open

New this year is a sailing class offered at the Buffalo Yacht Club. And, for the second year, the first week of camp is only for girls entering grades 5 and 6 with special programming and orientation just for them. Find out more here.

Legacy Residential Scholarship

Do you know a girl who would be a great SEM girl? A great Hornet or Jacket? She doesn’t have to be from Buffalo anymore… Because whether she’s from around the block or around the world – Buffalo Seminary has a place for her in our 5- or 7-day boarding in the beautiful historic homes next door to the school. Scholarships are now available for residential girls referred by a graduate, trustee of the school, or SEM family for the 2017-18 school year. The purpose of this scholarship is to build our SEM community with talented young women who have a connection to the school.

To nominate a candidate, contact Director of Admission Laura Munson ‘79 at 716.885.6780 or email [email protected].

How to Donate to SEM and Have it Cost Nothing Extra

SEM is a registered nonprofit with AmazonSmile. Customers have access to the same products, features, services, and low prices as on Amazon.com. The shopping experience is identical to Amazon.com with the added benefit that the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price from eligible AmazonSmile purchases to charitable organizations selected by customers. Please choose SEM! You can change your nonprofit selection at any time. Thank you for considering the school as a recipient.
