SEM’s Varsity Swimming team took on Mount Saint Mary’s Tuesday, September 27 and they unfortunately lost 64-30. However, many girls had great individual times in many different events.

“Our team has come a long way in recent years and hopefully in the near future some of our freshman club swimmers make states,” said the Red-Tailed Hawk’s co-captain Alison Gareis ’17.

In the Girls’ 200-Yard Freestyle Jessica Napier ’20, Ariana Nieves ’20, Alison Garies ’17 and Erin Tesluck ’20 all had a finishing time of 1:59.83, gaining 6 points for SEM.

In the Girls’ 500-yard Freestyle, Erin finished in first place with a time of 6:00.76 and also finished in first in the Girls’ 200-Yard Individual Medley with a time of 2:26.62.

In the Girls’ 100-yard Butterfly, Alison finished in first place with a time of 1:30:.01.

In the Girls’ 100-Yard Backstroke, Jessica came in first with a time of 1:15.46, winning against her opponent with less than a second to spare.

Many of SEM’s swimmers are beginners said co-captain Ellie Nedkova ’17. “Our opposing teams may be better than us but everyone on the team tries their best and that is the best we can do as a whole.”
