Sunday October 2,  the SEM sailing team competed in the NYNW Qualifier for MASSA (Mid-Atlantic Scholastic Sailing Association) fleet race Championships at the Rochester Yacht Club.

At the start of the race, the weather was beautiful and at a perfect temperature. And all of the SEM sailors got time to race.  Unfortunately, the race was cut a little short due to a huge storm that quickly rolled in.

This is not the first time that SEM has sailed in a Rochester regatta so there were no surprises.  Kyra Fogg ’17, Maddie Love ’19, Grace Cannon ’19, Mackenzie Beck ’18, Molly Doyle ’18, Julia Beck ’20 and team captains Sydney Adams ’18 and Katie McClenahan ’17 all sailed in the regatta.

Because of all of the hard work and effort that the whole team put in, SEM placed 5th overall out of 17 boats, almost qualifying the team to go to championships!
