Buffalo Seminary’s golf team had their first win of the season Wednesday, Sept. 13. The win took place at the Delaware Park Golf Course, against Mount Mercy Academy. With our own six girls playing, the score ended with 289 (Mount Mercy) to 254 (SEM). The girls who played the match were Shelby Kmidowski ’18, Cienna Certo ’18, Casey Ball ’18, Alex Galbraith ’20, Maddie Rich ’18, and Brooke Hogle ’21.

SEM’s golf team has a record of only winning three games in the past four years so the girls were “surprised by the win” said by Casey Ball. Casey also beat her personal low in this game. “I was proud after the game because that was a goal I set for myself this fall,” said Casey. While the win was unexpected, the girls are proud of the hard work that allowed them to finally achieve victory.

Captain Shelby Kmidowski ’18, also is accomplishing great things. In August, at the Buffalo District Golf Association Girls Sub-Junior and Junior tournaments Shelby Kmidowski won the Juniors title with 103. This league contains girls on the golf teams of Nardin, Sacred Heart, Mt. Mercy and Mt. St. Mary’s.

While the SEM golf team has a record this year so far of 1-2, the girls are eager to compete more in order to make it the best season yet. “We have worked so hard to try and win and it is so amazing to finally see it pay off, I am so proud of us as a team right now,” said Gianna Pezzino ’18.
