With after school activities like theater and sports, sometimes students find themselves running to grab a quick coffee or dinner on Elmwood.  Leah Kramer recently wrote an article detailing the best places to go to, and it is easy to spend a fortune anywhere on Elmwood.  Think about it, a $5 Starbucks drink every day after school, five days a week, about 30 weeks a year…  If you’re brave enough to calculate it, I’ll leave the math to you.

1. ETS

If you are just looking for a quick dinner, ETS sells tacos for under $3 each.  If you’re really hungry, but don’t want to spend a lot, you can buy an entire meal for $5.25 off the kids menu.  The meals come with the main entrée of either a taco (bean, beef, veggie, or chicken), a side of either waffle fries or nachos, and a drink.

2. Vasili’s Express

A popular dish consisting of a base of fries and gravy for around $7 will provide you a meal for days. It comes in a large aluminum dish, and half of it will definitely be saved for another day.

3. Starbucks

While it is no secret that SEM girls enjoy their daily dose of caffeine, it is also no secret that Starbucks can be a bit overpriced. However, there are certain ways to stay in budget.  For example, instead of ordering a flavored latte, try an iced coffee with shots of the flavor of your choice for under $3.

4. Panos

Panos is normally categorized as an expensive place to go out and eat, but to have a sit-down dinner somewhere and staying under $10 is very manageable. Panos offers an array of salads, sandwiches, wraps, and breakfast items under ten dollars, which help you to stay in budget, while still offering a restaurant scenery.

5. Food Trucks

The Lafayette Church on Elmwood is being renovated into an apartment building and there are often food trucks that stop in front during the day.  Depending on the food truck and what you are looking at, it can get a bit expensive, so proceed with caution as you glance at the menus.
