SEM Varsity picked-up its first win of the season versus Cardinal O’Hara in League Meet # 1 (the East Aurora Invitational) on Sept. 22.
What a race. With the temperature near 75 degrees and the humidity near 100% our SEM girls were excellent again. We faced Mt. St. Mary Academy and Cardinal O’Hara in a double dual meet. What a way for our girls to start the regular season. Although we came up a little short vs Mt. St. Mary 22 to 39, we defeated Cardinal O’Hara 21 to 40 and we had some very impressive finishes.
Overall Race Winner by nearly a minute was Zoë Knauss. Congratulations Zoë!
Next in for SEM and 5th Overall was Ana McNamara running a personal best 5K time, followed by Essence Julien (finishing her first 3.1 mile Cross Country race), Grace McHale running a personal best 5K time, Angelina Myles running a personal best 5K time, Lydia Abbott running a season-best 5K time, Jocelyn Yang running a season-best 5K time, Tia Browder running strong in her first 5K race of the season, Maggie McCulloch running a personal best 5K time, Mary Curtin running a personal best 5K time, Peyton Wagner running a season-best 5K time, Maia Dreishpoon running a personal best 5K time, Caroline Finkbeiner running a personal best 5K time, Joy Byaombe (finishing her first 3.1 mile Cross Country race), Lucy Chen (finishing her first 3.1 mile Cross Country race), and Georgia Bontempo running a season-best 5K time.
What an outstanding performance turned in this weekend by our talented SEM XC Team at the 2018 McQuaid Invitational in Rochester. Competing against the best competition in NY State, our girls really stepped up to the challenge.
