Buffalo News Stories by SEM Students

Erin Kelly, Managing Editor

The SEM Weekly publishes the work of the journalism class and other interested student contributors. Some of them also contribute to NeXt, a section written by teenagers that runs once a week in the Buffalo News.

Who are our NeXt contributors? Julia Beck ’20, Peyton Wagner ’21 and Elisa Yi ’18. They have all contributed to the Buffalo News this school year but unfortunately not all their stories are posted on the website. Here is a list of what is available at the BuffaloNews.com.

Elisa, who as a junior in journalism class contributed to SEM Weekly last year, has written a classical concert review but sadly, it isn’t posted at the Buffalo News.com. Elisa has submitted a story to the Buffalo News about cultural appropriation which is waiting for publication. While she is not in journalism class this year she has contributed a couple of stories to SEM Weekly and worked as a volunteer peer editor.

Peyton has written record reviews and at least two features, the one captured here is about teens and social media; the other is about STEM learning.

Julia has written a number of stories from event reviews to this large feature about social media and teens; it contains a number of SEM voices. Read it to find out who!
